Fall and Winter 2009

Narrator comment: Ok, I know. I'm a terrible blogdad. There I said it.

The 2nd half of 2009 has been eventful for the DeVoss family. Here is a quick pictorial review of the happenings... (as always you can visit our flickr page for more pictures)

Summer 2009
We re-did the basement of our house. Monty helped a lot.

Halloween 2009
Monty got some face paint at the pumpkin patch at Horner Park.

Fall 2009
During the second half of 2009, Monty has really gotten into cooking. Every night about 5PM he runs into the kitchen and yells "HELP COOK!". Click here for more cooking photos.

Gymnastics Class - Oct/Nov 2009
Monty had Gymnastics Class once a week. He took some spectacular naps after that class.

Thanksgiving 2009
Our first holiday tour of Wisconsin was for Thanksgiving. We spent Thursday in Plover, and Saturday in Dodgeville. Grandpa Tom is an excellent story teller.

Christmas 2009
Our next holiday tour was during the Christmas week. On Saturday we went bowling and opened presents. There were steaks for dinner, although dad seemed to be more excited about them than Monty. We stayed in Plover for a couple of days and we are heading to Dodgeville tomorrow. While we stayed Monty was able to feed an electric deer.

I will make an additional update after our trip to Dodgeville. I promise.

Monty Meets Thomas

Thomas Lego Train, originally uploaded by wtfchad.

Aunt Brooke pointed out a Thomas the Tank Engine event happening near us (Union, IL). We headed out and Monty spent the entire day going "wow!", "train!" and "more train!".

Also we had a summer vacation that I never blogged about because I'm a terrible person. Maybe I'll get to it in a few days, if you're nice to me.

Hi Grandpa, Happy Fathers Day

Hi Grandpa, Happy Fathers Day
Originally uploaded by wtfchad
Monty is learning new words every day now. However getting him to execute one or two on command is a little hit-and-miss. Here is his best effort on "hi grandpa" today for Father's Day.

Best of May

Apologies for the lack of updates. Monty has been keeping us busy.

First, I bring you a snapshot of last weekend. Monty drove his car all over, and then his true Wisconsin blood came through. He pulled over, dove out of his car and bellied up for a cold bottle of refreshing beverage. He did drive afterward. Bad boy.

Next up, Monty has something to ask you. I hope you can figure out what it is, because we have no idea.

Finally, a preview of this summer's biggest blockbuster: Super Naked Toddler.

Easter

New Slide!, originally uploaded by wtfchad.

Monty had a great Easter this year. First off, we had a houseful. Which Monty loves, he's quite the entertainer.

Aunt Brooke brought down her mobile Toys R Us stocked with tons of new goodies. Tables, chairs, toys, and this awesome new slide.

Monty now stands at the kitchen gate and yells "open!". And then when you open the gate he goes to the back door and yells "open!". He just wants to get to the slide.

Pat-A-Cake via Phone

Amanda called from a layover in Atlanta to talk to Monty. She got him to play a little pat-a-cake over speakerphone. It's hard to clap while holding the phone, so he uses the wall. Also, he gets so excited that he mashes the keys while playing.

Iconic Monty

OK - i'm about 6 months late on this fad, but I figured I'd post it anyways. I'll post the video of him giggling too.

The Classics (as read by Monty)

Monty is quite the avid reader. He'll crack open a book and finish it faster than anyone I've seen. Also, as books are quite easy to read, he likes to flip them over and read them upside down for a challenge.

Here is a video of him breezing through Clifford and a Backyardigan's book.

Happy Holidays

Feeding Nelly, originally uploaded by wtfchad.

Monty got a big ol rideable rocking horse from Grandpa and Grandma DeVoss for Christmas.

He's trying to feed Nelly that famous plastic hamburger that Comet the Cat loved so much.

Nelly sings when you pinch his ear, video to come of Monty grooving along.
